Service Description

I conduct workplace investigations as an attorney and as a legal service to the company. 1 — Before we talk. A short form asks for the companies and the people involved — names and roles only, no details of the matter. I clear conflicts before I hear anything substantive. That sequence protects you at least as much as it protects me: once a lawyer has heard the substance of your matter, it can limit who she is able to represent, including you. 2 — Scoping call (no charge). Thirty to forty-five minutes: the allegations, the people involved, the documents, the sensitivity, the timeline. 3 — Scope and fee, in writing, before anything begins. You receive an engagement agreement that states exactly what I will do and what it will cost. One document — the quote and the agreement are the same thing, so there is never a gap between what was quoted and what was signed. 4 — Investigation plan. Defined allegations, witness list, document requests, and schedule — agreed with you in writing. 5 — Interviews and document review. Conducted promptly, respectfully, and by the book. Witnesses are treated fairly; the process itself should never become a second complaint. 6 — Findings. Oral findings with a concise written summary, or a formal written report — your choice, made deliberately at the outset, because the form of the deliverable has legal consequences we'll discuss.
